Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the epidemic serotypes of Shigella and their antibiotic resistant characteristics in our hospital.METHODS The stool samples of the patients with diarrhea were collected and the bacteria isolation, culturing, and systemic serotype identification were made.At the same time, antibiotic sensitivity test was performed. The confirming test was made for the suspicious strains.RESULTS Of the 70 Shigella strains detected,37 were group B(S.flexneri) and 33 group D(S.sonnei).More than 62% of the Shigella strains tested were resistant to tetracycline,SMZ/TMP,ampicillin,rifampicin,and nalidixic acid. But the resistant rate of Shigella strains to norfloxacin was 12.8%,and the resistant rate to cephalosporin was not higher than 10%.CONCLUSIONS In our hospital, the main serotypes of Shigella spp are S.flexneri and S.sonnei.Multidrug-resistant rate is 77.1%.Cephalosporin can be used in treating patients infected with Shigella as first choice, and secondly gentamicin and norfloxacin can be used.
