Expression and Correlation of survivin and VEGF in NSCLC

Objective To study the Survivin and VEGF expression and its clinical significance in NSCLC.Methods The expression of Survivin and VEGF was detected in 72 NSCLC and 20 benign pulmonary tissues by the immohistochemical staining.Results Survivin、VEGF expression in NSCLC was 61.1% (44/72)、 79.2% (57/72)significantly higher than benign pulmonary tissures 10.0% (2/20)、 15.0% (3/20) (P 0.05 ).The expression of Survivin gene significantly correlated with grade of cell differentiation,TNM stages and the five-year survival rate(P 0.05 ).The expression of VEGF significantly correlated with grade of cell differentiation,TNM stages,the five year survival rate and lymph node status (P 0.05 ). The expression of Survivin and VEGF were coincident in NSCLC(P 0.05 ).Conclusions Survivin and VEGF expression significantly correlated with the clinical pathophysiological characteristics in NSCLC.Detection of Survivin and VEGF may be valuable for diagnosing lung cancer and evaluating malignancy extent and prognosis.
