Abstract

Objective: To study the effect of antihypertensive treatment combined with atorvastatin on carotid artery artherosclerosis in hypertensive patient. Methods .-The 62 hypertensive patients were randomly divided into routine antihypertensive treatment combined with atorvastatin group (group A, n = 32) and routine antihypertensive treatment group (group B,n = 30). The patients in A group received atorvastatin 10-20 mg every night for 1 year. Intima-media thickness (IMT) of carotid artery, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP) were deter mind before and after treatment. Results: The IMT of carotid artery、TC、 TG、 LDL-C、hsCRP decreased significantly (P0. 01), HDL-C significantly increased (P0. 01) in A group after 1 year. While in group B, those indexes were not significantly different (P0. 05). Compared with A group, they had significantly different (P0. 05-0. 01). Conclusion: Routine antihypertensive treatmant combined with atorvastatin can reverse carotid artery artherosclerosis in hypertensive patient.
