Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum C-reactive protein(CRP) and macrovascular complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:62 cases of T2DM with macrovascular complications(group A),64 cases of T2DM without macrovascular complications(group B),57 cases of impaired glucose tolerance(IGT)(group C) and 60 normal controls(group D) were selected. The levels of serum CRP,fasting blood glucose(FBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),TG,TC,LDL and HDL were detected. Results:The level of CRP in group A was significantly higher than that in group B,C and D(P0.01).The level of CRP in group B was significantly higher than that in group C and D(P0.01).The level of CRP in group C was significantly higher than that in group D(P0.01).Also the level of CRP was positively related with LDL(P0.05).Conclusion:CRP is a risk factor of T2DM with macrovascular complications and plays an important role in prediction of macrovascular complications in patients with T2DM.
