Abstract

Objective To evaluate the treatment efficacy and complications of stererotactic radiotherapy and chemotherapy for esophageal carcinoma. Methods Fifty-two patients with csophageal carcinoma received stereotactic radiotherapy 2.0-2.2 GY/fraction every day, five days per week, and were added up to 35 fractions . They were given 5-8 coplanar stationary beams stereotactic radiotherapy with total dose of 70 - 76 GY. The chemotherapy consisting of DDP 20mg plus 5 - FU 500mg for 1 day, was given prior to the radiatheapy. Results The check of the patients' X-ray films and CT images at 1 - 6 month after the treatment showed that the rate atleast 50% tumordeenease was 92.31% (48/52). One, three and five year survival rates were 78.85%(41/52), 41.46(17/41) and 26.92%(7/26), respectively. Conclusion The stereotactic radiotherapy and chemotherapy for esophageal carcinoma can increase efficacy and decrease complications and be the better therapy for the un-operation patients.
