Clinical Evaluation of Therapeutic Effect of Amlodipine on Essential Hypertension with Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of amlodipine on essential hypertension with carotid artery atherosclerosis.Methods 78 cases of essential hypertension with carotid artery atherosclerosis were randomly divided into two groups,and control group 38 cases.The group of treatment(40 cases) was treated with amlodipine besylate tablets 5～10 mg/d;the group of comparisson(38 cases) was treated with enalapril maleate tablets 5～20 mg/d.Both groups were treated continuously for 12 months.The carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) of two groups of patients were assessed by high-resolution Doppler ultrasonography before and after treatment,The blood pressure changes in patients of two groups were observed before and after treatment.Results After treatment,systolic and diastolic blood pressure of two groups compared with those before treatment were significantly different (P0.01),systolic and diastolic blood pressure after treatment were no significant difference between the two groups (P 0.05);The IMT of the treatment group after treatment improved significantly compared with those before treatment(P0.05),That were significantly different compared with the group of comparisson(P0.05),The IMT of the group of comparisson after treatment had no significant difference compared with those before treatment(P0.05).Conclusion Amlodipine had good antihypertensive effect,but also with anti-atherosclerosis,the role reversal of plaque.
