Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical significance of serum high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods The serum hs-CRP was determined by latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetry in 91 patients with coronary heart disease and 45 healthy controls. Serum lipid levels were measured by routine method.Results The serum levels of hs-CRP were significantly higher in patients with coronary heart disease (20.9±6.7 mg/L)than in healthy controls (2.6±1.8 mg/L, P0.01). However, the levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were not significantly different between the two groups (P0.05).Conclusion Serum level of hs-CRP is significantly higher in patients with coronary heart disease. It is a good predictor of coronary heart disease, combined test of hs -CRP and serum lipid is more valuable to prediction of the risk of coronary heary disease than serum lipid test alone.
