Effects of Total Glucosides of Paeony on the Level of Interleukin-22 in the Serum of Patients with Psoriasis Vulgaris

Objective To analyze the therapeutic mechanism of total glucosides of paeony(TGP) through investigating the effect of TGP on the level of interleukin(IL)-22 in serum of patients with psoriasis vulgaris(PV).Methods From October 2009 to August 2010,changes of IL-22 level in the serum of 30 patients with PV and 20 healthy controls were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay,and correlations between the change and Psoriasis area and severity index(PASI) score were analyzed before and after the treatment.Results IL-22 level in patients with PV [(90.50 ± 51.80)pg/mL)] was significantly higher than that in the control group [(40.10 ± 17.20) pg/mL](P0.05).After treatment,the level of IL-22 [(48.70 ± 23.90) pg/mL] was significantly decreased(P0.05) in the patients,and the level was not significantly different between patients after treatment and the controls(P0.05).Serum concentration of IL-22 showed significant positive correlations with PASI score before and after treatment.Conclusion TGP may regulate IL-22 to play a important role in treating psoriasis vulgaris.
