Abstract

Objective To investigate the levels of Interleukin 36(IL-36)in peripheral blood of patients with psoriasis vulgaris(PV)and its association with the disease. Methods Employing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),the levels of IL-36 in peripheral blood of 45 PV patients-27 with active stage, and 18 with resting phase-and 40 healthy individuals were detected, the results were compared with skin-lesion area and PASI score. Results Serum IL-36 levels were higher in PV patients than that in the healthy controls(t=9.6,P0.01),that in active stage were higher than that in the resting phase(t=9.4,P0.01).Serum IL-36 levels in the patients were positively correlated with PASI score(r=0.73,P0.01). Conclusion Serum IL-36 is likely to play an important role in development of psoriasis vulgaris and show a positive correlation with the extent of severity of the disease.
