Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To promote the rational use of antibiotics.METHODS: By a retrospective study,a total of 1 710 discharge case histories in 2007 were reviewed in respect of the application of antibiotics.RESULTS: Of the 1 710 cases,72.59% had been treated with antibiotics,of which,57.29% used antibiotics for prophylactic purpose and 42.72% for treatment purpose.62.00% of the clinical specimens have been sent for examination,and the rate of rational use of antibiotics was 83.58%.CONCLUSION: The results show that the use of antibiotics in our hospital is rational on the whole,but there are some problems remain to be tackled.Measures should be taken to tighten control on the administration of antibiotics.
