Abstract
The present paper proceeds from an analysis of the current situation of college English teaching and the pressure with which it is confronted, to show that it is inevitable to reform the traditional teaching patterns of college English. To set up scientific teaching college English patterns, we should optimize teaching ideology, college English curricula, teaching methods, the examination system and teaching environment, in the hope of bettering college English teaching patterns and thus, improving the teaching quality.
