Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between the positive expression of tissue P53 and nm23 in breast cancer and the invasion and metastasis. Methods We selected 60 cases of breast cancer specimens in our department from Feb.2006 to Feb.2009 and used immunohistochemical staining to detect the positive expression of nm23 and P53.Results The positive expression rates of tissue nm23 and P53 in 60 cases of breast cancer were 85.0%(51/60)and 53.3%(32/60),respectively.The positive expression rate of tissue nm23 was lowered with increased histological grading(P0.05).The nm23 positive expression rate in lymph node metastasis was lower than that without lymph node metastasis(P0.05) and the P53 positive expression was correlated with histological grading(P0.05).There was a significant difference between nm23 expression and P53 expression(χ2=4.22,P0.05).Spearman rank correlation analysis showed a negative correlation in the expression of both in breast cancer tissue(r=-0.480,P0.05).Conclusion The expression of tissue nm23 and P53 in breast cancer can be used as one of the indicators for the invasive and metastatic potential of breast cancer, which is of important clinical significance.
