Structure and construction of column-and-tie construction in Huizhou vernacular dwellings

The Huizhou vernacular dwellings possess obvious regional characteristics.Based on practical surveys about the Huizhou vernacular dwellings in Ming and Qing dynasties and analysis of relevant documents,a study and summary are given on the structural members and their connection of the column-and-tie construction in the Huizhou vernacular dwellings.It is shown that the column-and-tie construction in the Huizhou vernacular dwellings uses local materials,employs materials in accordance with its natural capacity.It emphasizes the structural integrity and stability,improves the joint rigidity and possesses good applicability and durability.
