A Survey-based Study of Chinese Negative Transfer in English Intonation Mastery

Abstract

The basic difference between Chinese tone and English intonation leads to many obstacles in learners' mastery of English intonation.This essay makes a survey upon practical frequency of five fundamental types of English intonation over 90 students.The result shows how Chinese negative transfer works in learning English intonation.After analysis,the author also proposes three steps in the hope of improving English intonation teaching.
