Abstract
Objective:To investigate the value of susceptibility weighted imaging(SWI) in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) with hemorrhage. Methods:One hundred and five neonates who suspected of having HIE underwent MR scanning at a 3.0T MR scanner by the sequence as fluid attenuation inversion recovery(FLAIR),fast spin-echo(FSE),diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) and SWI.We highlight the value of SWI to detect hemorrhage lesions in HIE.Results:SWI can reveal hemorrhage lesions in HIE.This unique MR sequence was more sensitive than other sequences in detecting focal hemorrhage in germinal matrix and intraventricular hemorrhage. Conclusions:SWI is the most sensitive sequence for detecting hemorrhage in HIE.
