Bird Survey in Xilinhot,Inner Mongolia

Bird surveys were carried out via fixed sample point and the line transect methods from May 2005 to November 2006 in Xilinhot,Inner Mongolia,China.186 bird species were recorded,which belonged to 18 orders,42 families and 98 genera.Of them,there are 27 residents,104 summer migrants,1 winter migrant,and 54 passing migrants.The elements of the Palaeoarctic realm play important roles in this avifauna,117 species are Palaearctic birds,accounting for 88.6% of the breeding birds.5 bird species are listed as national first grade wildlife of China for protection and 28 species as the second grade.There are 134 bird species in wetland habitat,where the bird resources are the richest.The G-F index of the avifauna in Xilinhot is 0.81.
