Abstract
This paper first provides an overview of the deregulation process of British telecommunications industry. It also examines the development histories and expansion strategies of two main telecom companies in the UK, i. e , British Telecom and Cable Wireless. In the age of liberalization and globalization, the successful stories of BT and CW should be of some help for China' s telecom companies which are facing both the domestic deregulation and international competition in a more and more opening telecom market.
