Study on anti-inflammatory,analgesic,and antipruritic effects of Shengning suppository

Objective To observe the anti-inflammatory,analgesic and antipruritic effects of Shengning suppository.Methods Analgesic effects of Shengning suppository were observed with pain model mice by acetic acid or hot plate test.Anti-inflammatory effects were studied with ear acute edema model induced by dimethylbenzene in mice and rat foot edema model induced by carrageen,and antipruritic action was observed with allergic pruritic model caused by histamine in guinea pigs. Results Shengning suppository could inhibit foot edema in rats and ear edema in mice.It also prolonged the period of pain reaction caused by hot plate in mice,decreased pain reaction induced with acetic acid and increased itching threshold value in guinea pigs.Conclusion Shengning suppository has obvious anti-inflammatory,analgesic,and antipruritic effects.
