Abstract

Objective: To discuss the effect of metoprolol on ventricular remodeling and cardiac function in patients with ischemic heart disease with heart failure. Methods:One hundred and sixteen patients with ischemic heart disease and heart failure admitted to our hospital from January 2009 to January 2010 were chosen and divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group received metoprolol on the basis of routine treatment for heart failure while the control group only received routine treatment for heart failure.Therapeutic effects after treatment and improvements of left ventricular end-systolic volume(LVESV),left ventricular end-diastolic volume(LVEDV) and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) in two groups were observed for comparison. Results:The functions and structure of left ventricle of patients in treatment group were improved remarkably. And when compared with the control group, the improvements in the treatment group was more obvious. The difference between two groups was statistically significant(P 0.05).Conclusions:By applying metoprolol based on routine treatment for heart failure, better therapeutic effects can be achieved.Ventricular remodeling and cardiac function in patients with heart failure can be improved significantly. Thus, this treatment option is worthy of clinical application.
