Effects of nursing intervention on medication compliance in old patients

Objective:To evaluate the effects of nursing intervention on medication compliance in the old patients.Methods:The study was carried out on 792 patients receiving drug treatment,from May 2008 to June 2008,in the geriatric department of our hospital.All subjects were randomly divided into two groups,the experimental group(424 cases,with nursing interventions),and the control group(368 cases,with conventional care).The patients were conducted a questionnaire survey at discharge.Two groups were observed in patients with medication compliance.Results:The drug therapy compliance rate in experimental group was 73.11%,only 45.38% in the control group.There was a significant difference between the two groups.Conclusion:Effective nursing intervention in hospitalized elderly people can significantly increase medication compliance,and enhance the effectiveness of drug treatment.
