Abstract
According to Relevance Theory, translation can be regarded as a cognitively inferential communication process. Thus translation should be Ternary Relation:the author, the translator and the reader of translation. The success of communication through translation depends on the point that whether the author's intention was known by the reader or not. Therefore, the translator's assignment is to arrive at the optimal relevance by seeking for the accessible contextual factors,so that the output of translation can successfully coincide the intention of the source language writer with the expectation of the target language. So the introduction of relevance theory will have great revelation to translation studies.
