Abstract
Objective To investigate the method of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of XGP. Methods 30 cases of XGP were retrospectively reviewed. The clinical management and follow up results were evaluated. Results Intravenous urogram and sonography revealed no specific finding.CT scan was performed in 19 of the 30 cases and 5 cases of diffue XGP were diagnosed correctly.3 cases were diagnosed with the combined use of ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration.29 cases were treated surgically including partial nephrectomy in 2,total nephrectomy in 17 and radical nephrectomy in 10.The other case received antibiotics with complete resolution. Conclusions Diffuse XGP could be diagnosed on CT scanning. The diagnosis of focal XGP and diffuse XGP without characteristic CT signs might be acheived with the combined use of ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration.Partial or total nephrectomy could be undertaken for XGP according to its clinical stage.
