Efficacy of Naoxintong combined with butylphthalide in treating patients with vascular dementia

Objective To observe the efficacy of Naoxintong combined with butylphthalide in treating patients with vascular dementia(VD).Methods A total of 108 VD patients was equally randomized into three groups of A(orally administrated with 2-4capsules of Naoxintong,three times per day for 3months),B(orally administrated with 2capsules of butylphthalide,three times per day for 3months)and C(combined use of two drugs above).Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA)and activities of daily living(ADL)were used to assess the therapeutic effect before and after treatment. Results The MoCA and ADL scores were better after treatment than those before in three groups(P0.05),which were better in group C than those in groups of A and B(P0.05).Conclusion The efficacy of combined use of Naoxintong and butylphthalide in treating VD patients is better than that of Naoxintong or butylphthalide alone.
