Abstract

Objective: To investigate the expressions of Ezrin and E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and their correlation with metastasis and recurrence. Methods: Immunohistochemisty was used to detect the expressions of Ezrin and E-cadherin in 80 HCC tissues and 80 normal tissues adjacent to cancer. Results: The positive rate of Ezrin protein(61.25%) was significantly higher in tumor tissues than that in normal tissues adjacent to cancer(42.50%).The protein expression of Ezrin was significantly correlated with the clinical stage, the portal vein tumor thrombus, the recurrence of tumor, the presence of extrahepatic metastasis and the differentiation of tumor. The positive rate of E-cadherin proteins was significantly higher in normal tissues adjacent to cancer(70.00%) than that in tumor tissues(47.50%).The protein expression of E-cadherin was negatively correlated with the portal vein tumor thrombus, the presence of extrahepatic metastasis and the differentiation of tumor significantly. Conclusion: The overexpression of Ezrin protein and the inactivation of E-cadherin are significantly related to the invasion and the metastasis of HCC.The expression of them can refer to the malignant biological property and the prognosis of HCC.
