Abstract

Objective To detect the expressions of Ezrin and E-cadherin in bladder urothelial carcinoma and evaluate their possible roles in metastasis. Methods Expressions of Ezrin and E-cadherin were detected by SP immunohistochemistry in 80 specimens of the cancer(26 with metastasis,54 without metastasis). Results The abnormal expressions of Ezrin and E-cadherin were significantly higher in the cases with metastasis than in those without(76.92% vs 51.85%,69.23% vs 40.74%,P0.05).The abnormal expression of Ezrin was positively correlated with that of E-cadherin(r=0.898,P0.05).ConclusionEzrin and E-cadherin are closely related with invasion and metastasis of bladder cancer, which may be used as markers in predicting metastasis of the disease.
