Abstract
AIM: To investigate changes of diastolic function of patients with hypertension without left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH). METHODS: 40 patients with hypertension without LVH, or 40 patients with both hypertension and LVH, or 40 adults with normal blood pressure were measured by echocardiography and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM). RESULTS: The differences in mitral flow E wave, A wave, ratio of E/A, the same volume diastolic time and decreased velocity of early diastolic stage among normal group, hypertension group with LVH, hypertension group without LVH are significant, but there is no significant between hypertension group with LVH, and hypertension group without LVH. The left ventricular ejection fractions of three groups are no significant difference. Between two hypertension groups, the differences of the average systolic pressure and diastolic pressure of 24 hours, the average day systolic pressure and diastolic pressure, and the load of blood pressure are significant, but the difference of average night systolic pressure and diastolic pressure are insignificant. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with hypertension may appear abnormality of diastolic function prior to the appearance of LVH. The cause may be associated with persistent increase of blood pressure during night.
