People's perception about the services provided at the community hospitals

Objective The purpose of this survey is to investigate people' s perception about the services provided by the community hospitals and their willingness to use these services.The results of this survey will provide fundamental information and important insights for the purpose of medical reform and the redistribution of medical resources.Methods A random sample of 515 patients was drawn from the patient population of Guangzhou' s first-class hospitals.The data collected from survey questionnaires were analyzed through using the statistical software of SPSS.Results Survey data show that only 17% of the patients have the intention to use medical services at the community level.The major reasons cited for refusing community level services are the concerns about the capability of community hospitals,quality of the services,and the fear of delaying and missing the optimal treatment opportunities.Conclusion The construction of community healthcare should be strong to coincide the requirement of the public medical service and the present community medical service.
