Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of ischemic preconditioning on left ventricular remodeling in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods A total of 104 patients with acute myocardial infarction were divided into ischemic preconditioning group(IP groups,53 patients) and with non-ischemic preconditioning group(NIP groups,51 patients). The indices of left ventricular remodeling including left ventricular end diastolic volume index, left ventricular end systolic volume index, and left ventricular ejection fraction were measured by ultrasonic cardiogram in 24 hours,1 week,1 month and 3 months after onset of acute myocardial infarction. Results In 1 month and 3 months after PCI,the parameters of cardiac performance decreased significantly and left ventricular ejection fraction were improved in IP group compared with those in NIP group. There were statistic differences in left ventricular end diastolic volume index, left ventricular end systolic volume index and left ventricular ejection fraction dramatically in ischemic preconditioning group in 3 months after PCI between two groups. Conclusion Ischemic preconditioning can attenuate left ventricular remodeling.
