Abstract

Objective To observe the recent clinical effects of edaravone combined with butylphtalide in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction. Methods 63 eligible patients with acute cerebral infarction who were admitted to our hospital from January to December 2012 were randomly assigned to experimental group and control group. The experimental group(42 patients) were given edaravone and butylphtalide on the basis of regular treatment, while the control group(21 patients) were only given regular treatment. The courses of treatment were both 14 days. The NIHSS scores, Barthel indices were used to evaluate clinical effects. Results The total effective rate was 88.1% in experimental group and 71.4% in control group. The difference between the two groups was significant(P0.05). NIHSS scores and Barthel indices were significantly lower than those in control group, and the differences were significant(P0.05). Conclusion Edaravone combined with butylphtalide in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction is safe and reliable, which shows advantages over the past regular treatment and is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
