Abstract
Objective:To explore the efficacy and safety of quetiapine in the treatment of schizophrenia. Methods:60 schizophrenics who met the CCMDⅢ criteria for schizophrenia were randomly assigned to the quetiapine ( n = 30 ) and risperidone (n=30) groups for 8 week. Curative effects were assessed with the Positive And Negative Rating Scale( PANSS), and side effects with the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) before treatment and at the ends of 1st ,2nd ,4th and 8th week of treatment. The criteria of curative effects; seoreredueing rate of the PANSS≥75% was recovery,≥50% significant improvement,≥25% improvement and25% ineffectiveness. Results: The effective rate of qutiapine was 70.0% and risperidone 66.7%, which showed no significant difference. Extrapyramidal side effects of quetiapine were fewer than those of risperidone, there was no obvious difference in'other factors of side effects between the 2 groups(P0.05). Conclusions: Quetiapine has better curative effect, fewer side effects and better compliance in the treatment of schizophrenia.
