Abstract
Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of Quetiapine and Risperidone in the treatment of senile schizophrenia. Methods:Sixty - four senile schizophrenic in patients were divided into two groups randomly. They were treated with Quetiapine and Risperidone respectively for 8 weeks. The positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS) and treatment emergent symptoms scale(TESS) were used to evaluate efficacy and side effects. Results:The total and factor scores of PANSS in both groups decreased singinficantly at any time point after treatment(P0.05或P0.01). But there were no singinficant difeference between the two groups(P0.05),The responsive rate and effective rate were 65.6%and 84.4%respectively in Quetiapine group and 62.5%and 81.3%in Risperidone group without singinficant difeference between the two groups.TESS showed Quetiapine had less side effects and better safety than Risperidone.
