Abstract

During the Second Sino-Japanese War,the puppet Mengjiang Regime was established in Inner Mongolia by the Japanese colonizer and the Mongolian Prince Demchugdongrub(Prince De),but the western part of Suiyuan province was under Kuomintang's control. Both the Mengjiang regime and the government of Suiyuan province made use of the Mongolian literature to fight for cultural hegemony. While the Sinicized Mongolian intellectuals in Suiyuan wanted to wake up other Mongolian people's Chinese national consciousness to fight against Japan,Prince De was trying to give Mongolian nationalism a meaning of self-determination.Nationalism became ideological tool between different political powers. However, the culture of minority ethnic group could not get developed between absolutism and colonization.
