English Translation Strategies of the Commonly Used Rhetorical Methods in Classical Literature of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract

The ancient physicians improve the effect of expression not only by selecting and adjusting the proper words and sentences,but also by using the form of methods to reach the purpose.The so-called rhetoric is short for rhetorical format,now commonly known as or method.With the rapid development of rhetoric,there are more and more people doing some research on the English translation of expressions in the classical literature of traditional Chinese medicine.In this paper the author only gives some examples of five kinds of commonly used medical methods in order to explore some practical rhetorical translation strategies.The author believes that the translation of the original content and language features should be full of faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance.And the translator also needs to have the knowledge of linguistics and translation theory to study and master the basic theory of TCM constantly.
