Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of early transplantation of fresh amniotic membrane for ocular surface alkali burn.Methods 35 patients(38 eyes) who had severe alkali burn received fresh amniotic membrane transplantation. ResultsOcular surfaces of all patients remained stable rapidly,cornea was transparent in 20 eyes,corneal lencoma formation in 10 eyes and totally opaque of cornea in 4 eyes.24 eyes got rid of blindness after three month,including visual acuities of 11 eyes better than 0.2.Conclusions Fresh amniotic membrane transplantation for ocular alkali burn is effective in promoting re-epithelialization and preventing corneal neovasularization,preventing symblepharon.It is a valuable method for the treatment of early severe ocular alkali burn.
