Abstract
Objective:To explore significance of detection of serum cystatin C(Cys C) in aged hypertensive patients with different stages and risk stratifications. Methods:A total of 112 aged cases with essential hypertension were selected randomly and divided into three stages and four risk stratification.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to measure serum Cys C level.Serum concentrations of blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and creatinine(Cr) were measured by automatic biochemistry analyzer. Results:Positive rate of serum Cys C was 40% in patients with hypertension stage 1,and significantly higher than those of serum BUN(6.7%) and Cr(6.7%),P0.05 both;as level of blood pressure and risk stratification increased, serum Cys C level increased gradually(P0.05 or0.01),and more than those of BUN and Cr.Linear regression analysis showed serum Cys C level was correlation with risk stratification of hypertension(r=0.508,P0.01).Serum levels of BUN and Cr significantly changed only in patients with hypertension stage 3 or extreme high risk stratification(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion:Detection of serum cystatin C contributes to identify early impaired renal function in aged patients with hypertension. Its level may be used to determine the prognosis of patients.
