Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of propofol on renal expression of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and nuclear factor-κ B(NF-κ B)following hindlimb ischemia/reperfusion in rats. Methods Twenty-four SD rats were randomly allocated into three groups with 8 rats each:control group(A),ischemia/reperfusion group(B) and propofol group(C).Expression of TNF-α and NF-κB in renal tissue were detected by immunohistochemical and semi-quantitated by image analysis. Results The expression of TNF-α and NF-κ B were significantly higher in group B than those in group A,but it′s lower in group C than those in group B.Conclusion Propofol has protective effects on the kidney against injury induced by hindlimb ischemia/reperfusion,which may be related to a decrease in over expression of TNF-α and NF-κB in renal tissue of hindlimb ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.
