Abstract
Objective To investigate the analgesic effects of phentolamine.Methods The latency of hindsaw withdrawal (HWL) on a hot plate in mononeuropathy mice and the writhing frequency in intact mice were used as pain threshold indexes.The analgesic effects of intraperitoneal injection of phentolamine were observed.Results The HWL was prolonged significantly and the writhing frequency was reduced when IP 4mg/kg phentolamine was applied (P0.001).Conclusion The results suggest that phentolamine can be used to enhance the analgesic effect in mononeuropathy or normal mice.
