Abstract
ObjectivesTo explore the gene expression of p73 protein in prostate cancer and its clinical significance. Methods The gene expression of p73 and p53 proteins in prostatic tissues from 67 cases with prostate cancer and 12 healthy controls was detected by ABC immunohistochemical method . Results The gene expression of p73 protein in prostate tissue of 12 normal controls was negative , while the positive expression rate of p73 gene in prostate cancer group was 40.3% , p53 gene was all over expressed in the 27 cases with positive expression of p73 gene. The positive expression rates of p73 gene were significantly correlated with the pathological grade ,clinical stage of cancers and the five years survival of the patients(P0.01). Conclusion p73 gene may play an important role in the occurrence and differentiation of prostate cancer , so detection of p73 protein is of some referential value in its prognosis.
