The clinical application of polypropylene mesh and plug in groin hernia repair

Objective: To approach the advantages and summarize the experience of mesh and plug tension-free hernia repair.Methods: The mesh and plug tension-free hernia repair was administered in 98 patients of groin hernia with the bard mesh and prefix plug offered by Bard company in U.S.A.The operation time,post-operative pain,patient's recovery ability,complication and recurrence rate were analysized retrospectively.Results: The average operation time was 40.5 minutes.The patients could move within 4~6 hours of the end of the operation.Postoperative pain lasted about 2～3 days.one cases had retention of urine,non-other complication.With follow-up 98 case in 6 months to 36 months recurrence wae no find.Conclusion: Bard mesh and prefix plug has a good tisse-compatibility.It is ideal material for hernia repair.the mesh and plug tension-free hernia repair is easy to be performed and it has an advantage of minor trauma,quicker recovery and lower recurrence.And the operation indication can be widened.It is one of the most advanced method in the treatment of groin hernia.
