Expression and Its Significance of c-FLIP in Laryngeal Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and its clinical significance of c-FLIP in laryngeal carcinoma.Methods The expression of c-FLIP protein in specimens of 43 cases with laryngeal carcinoma and 10 cases with vocal cord polyps were studied with immunohistochemistry method and flow cytometry.Results Positive staining rate of c-FLIP in specimens of laryngeal carcinoma(81%) was significantly higher than that of vocal cord polyps(0.0 %)(P 0.001).Furthermore,the expression level of c-FLIP was closely related to TNM stages and lymph node involvement,but not to histological classification and cell differentiation.The average fluorescence index of c-FLIP in laryngeal carcinoma and vocal cord polyps were 4.73±0.74 and 1.06±0.18(±s)respectively(P0.01).Conclusions Overexpression of c-FLIP may play a crucial role in the carcinogenesis and progression of laryngeal carcinoma.
