Abstract

Objective To discuss the relationship between interleukin-18(IL-18) or matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and acute coronary syndrome(ACS),and find a new way for the diagnosis and treatment of ACS.Methods A total of 79 inpatients were divided into control group, unstable angina pectoris(UAP) group and acute myocardial infarction(AMI) group according to clinical symptom and the result of coronary arteriography.Femoral artery serum IL-18 and MMP-9 were measured with ELISA.Results The level of serum IL-18 was significantly lower in control group than UAP group(P 0.01),and the level in UAP group was lower than that in AMI group(P 0.01).On the other hand, the level of serum MMP-9 was significantly lower in control group than UAP group(P 0.01),and the level in UAP group was lower than that in AMI group(P 0.01).Conclusion IL-18 and MMP-9 are expressed in healthy subjects, and highly expressed in patients with ACS.It can be used as an important prognostic marker and treatment target for ACS.
