Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in patients with exterme myopia and cataract. Methods 105 patients received phacoemulasification and a low power intraocular lens implantation.Intraoperative, postoperative complications and visral acuity were observed. The follow-up time is 3 months. Results No intraoperative comlication happened. There is no retinal detachmennt and only 8 patients had low-grade posterior capsular opacification. Conclusions Phacoemulsification is a safe and effective method for extreme axial myopia with cataract.Implantation of negative or low power intraocular lens can especially improve the stability of the tissue in eyeball, prevent the occurrence of retinal detachment.Meanwhile it can correct the refractive errors. The curative effect is certain.
