Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of 0.05% Desonide Cream in Patients with Three Common Dermatoses

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of 0.05% desonide cream in the treatment of patients with three common dermatoses dermatitis. Methods Three hundred and five patients with atopic dermatitis,seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis vulgaris were entrolled into the open clinical trail.They were divided to receive 0.05% desonide cream,1% hydrocortisone butyrate ointment and 0.1% mometasone furoate cream.The efficacy was determined by measuring the total scores of erythema,erosion,infiltration,papule,exudation/crust,pruritus and the extent of lesions. Results At the end of the 3 weeks study,the total clinical effective rate in the desonide group was superior to the hydrocortisone butyrate group,with a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).No adverse effect related to the drug was found in both groups.The total clinical effective rate in the desonide group was comparable to the mometasone furoate group.However,a case presented with erythema and another case arised pruritus in the mometasone furoate group. Conclusion 0.05% desonide cream is effective and safe for patients with common dermatoses.
