Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between multi-drug resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae( N. gonorrhoeae)phenotype and resistance genes. Methods The K-B method was used to analyze the sensitivity of 40 clinical strains of N.gonorrhoeae exposured to 8 kinds of common antibiotics. The DNA of the strains was extracted with boiling method, and the resistance genes such as TEM,tetM,ermF and mefA were detected by PCR in the randomly selected 20 strains. Results The multi-drug resistance was obviously observed in N. gonorrhoeae. The resistant ratio of N. gonorrhoeae to ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin was both at about 92. 5%. The positive rate of TEM and tetM genes were both 75. 0%,but ermF and mefA genes were not detected in the 20 strains. The drug-resistance phenotype of the 20 strains to penicillin was significantly correlated with the expression of TEM gene( Kappa = 0. 733,P 0. 01). Conclusion There was a close relationship between the multidrug resistance phenotype of N. gonorrhoeae and the drug-resistance genes.
