Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To conduct survey and analysis on the prescriptions in order to improve the quality of prescriptions and promote rational drug use.METHODS: We reviewed a total of 8 069 outpatient prescriptions in Hunan University Hospital during 2010,filled Prescription Comment Worksheet and analyzed the data statistically using Excel software.RESULTS: An average of 2.35 drugs was prescribed per prescription,with mean drug cost of 45.73 yuan per prescription.3125(38.73%) prescribed antibiotics.16.92% prescribed injections.The percentage of national essential drugs stood at 64.75%.559(6.93%) were irrational prescriptions.CONCLUSION: The outpatient prescriptions in our hospital were basically rational and economical in drug use;however,the problems noted in irrational prescriptions should be given full attention by taking effective intervention measures to improve the drug treatment level.
