Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between P16 gene expression and invasion, metastasis of cervical carcinoma. Methods Expression of P16 in 69 cases of human carcinoma and 20 normal cervical tissues were detected by means of immunohistochemical stain. Results The positive expressions of P16 gene was 18 cases in 20 normal cervical tissues; In 69 cervical cancer tissues, the positive rates of P16 was 55.1% (38/69) . The expression of P16 in cervical carcinoma was related significantly to clinical stage, pathological grade, lymph node metastasis(P0.01) but no relationship with patients age, pathological types(P0.05). Conclusion In cervical carcinoma, decreased expressions of P16 may play important role in tumor angiogenesis, cancer invasion and metastasis. Detection of play may be of clinical significance in further understanding the biological behavior of cervical carcinoma.
