Abstract

The dry friction and wear properties of MoSi 2 against CrWMn steel were investigated on an M-2 type tester. The wear mechanisms were analyzed by microrgraphs of the surface and the composition of worn pieces. The results approve that the wear mechanisms of MoSi 2 material are changed with the load increasing: the main wear mechanism is fatigue wear under the lower loads (from 30 to 50 N), while adhesive wear is the main mechanism under the higher loads (from 80 to 150 N).
