Abstract
The tribological properties of MoSi 2 against CrWMn steel under oil lubrication were investigated with a M-200 type friction wear tester. The friction wear characteristics of the MoSi 2 is compared with a counterpart of CrWMn under dry friction condition. Its surface appearance was observed and analysed by means of scanning electron microscopy and electron probe micro analysis, and its wear mechanism and pairing characteristics were discussed. The test results showed that lubricant oil could improve the tribological properties of MoSi 2. Main friction mechanism of MoSi 2/CrWMn steel was plastic deformation and main wear mechanism was fatigue wear and abrasive wear. The high hardness CrWMn steel could be used as counterpart of MoSi 2.
