Abstract
Objective:To study preventive effect of clarithromycin (CAM) on acute lung injury (ALI)induced by oleic acid. Methods:The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: oleic acid group (OA group), CAM preventive group (CAM group), dexamethasone preventive group (DX group) and control group. PaO 2, polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leukocyte (PMN) counts, concentration of TNFα in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), histologic evaluation of lung and content of lung water were compared in different groups. Results:Compared with that of DX group, PMN counts, concentration of TNFα in BALF and content of lung water in CAM group were markedly decreased,PaO 2 and histologic changes of lung were slighter. Conclusion:CAM may has preventive effects on ALI induced by oleic acid, which is possibly associated with inhibited PMN aggregation and downregulation of TNFα.
