Abstract

Objective To study the expression of Survivin proteins in normal esophageal mucosa, atypical hyperplasia tissue and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and to analyze the relationship between protein expession and clinicopathologic characteristic. Methods The expression of Survivin in different pathological changed tissue of 83 cases with esophageal squamous-celled carcinoma was detected by immunohistochemistry, and they all followed up more than 5 years. Results The expression of Survivin were progressively increasing in the course from normal、atypical hyperplasia to squamous cell carcinoma(P0.001).It was significantly correlated with tumor infiltration depth and pTNM staging(P0.05).The 5-year overall survival rate of Survivin positive patients was lower than that of Survivin negative patients(P0.05);By Cox regression model multivariate analysis, the positive expressin of Survivin was the independent prognostic factors for ESCC patients(RR=3.125,P0.05).Conclusion The expression of Survivin was significantly related to the occurrence and progression of ESCC,it may be an important marker for ESCC early diagnosis, and it may be an independent prognostic indicator for ESCC patients.
